Any of you who are regular visitors to the site know that the posting and predictions activity levels have been down. That responsibility falls on my shoulders as I haven’t been on top of things as much lately. The summer and family have kept me occupied and lack of actual COD4 news worth posting has surprised me for how well the game is doing. Now that summer is coming to an end and everyone’s headed back to school and normal active PC gaming time, my staff and I figured now is the time to make some changes. Our following has lacked a bit and even though we feel the majority of gamers are satisfied with what we’re trying to do when we’re active. There are some of the more “hardcore” competitive gamers who don’t like some of the things we’ve done or represent and they speak loudly about it. Taking the brunt of that, I realize that my goal of bringing the community closer together is not something that can be forced through C4N. People have to want it and at this point, the only way to make that even remotely possible is to make personnel changes. Effective in the next few weeks, I’ll be stepping down as the director of COD4Network and just focusing in on the website aspect only. We’ll be announcing a successor and what direction we’re headed after everything’s in place. That’s all I can say for now. Wish us the best of luck during this transition.

Kotaku reports plans for another Call of Duty game in 2009 beyond Treyarch's upcoming Call of Duty: World At War, which is due later this year. This is based on a revelation during a conference call following Activision Blizzard's latest financial report where CEO Bobby Kotick said the sixth CoD game would be released in 2009 because they will "leapfrog" studios, which suggests that CoD4 developer Infinity Ward will be handling this title. Kotaku mentions a rumor that IW is working on a science-fiction shooter, and speculate whether CoD 6 will be fought with ray guns, though it was also recently reported the developer is cultivating an entirely new intellectual property (story).
